United Way of the Ohio Valley Expands Impact Funding for 2027
OWENSBORO, KY — August 27, 2026 — United Way of Ohio Valley (UWOV) announced an increase in its 2027 Impact Funding pool to $279,000, expanding opportunities for local nonprofit organizations working to address poverty across the six-county region.
The competitive funding will support programs addressing three key pathways to reducing poverty: Affordable Housing, Homelessness, and Financial Stability.
Funding is available to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving residents in Daviess, Hancock, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties whose programs align with one of UWOV’s Impact focus areas.
A portion of UWOV’s annual campaign revenue will be distributed through two grant cycles. The $279,000 Impact Funding pool announced for 2027 will be available specifically through a competitive grant process for nonprofit programs that are not currently United Way Legacy Partners.
“Poverty is complex, and no single organization can solve it alone,” said Vikki Embry, UWOV Director of Community Impact and Investment. “By increasing our Impact Funding, we have an opportunity to bring more organizations and new ideas to the table. Our goal is to invest in solutions that not only address an immediate need, but help individuals and families build a stronger, more stable future.”
Application Process
Eligible agencies must be IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organizations providing services in at least one of UWOV’s designated Impact focus areas. Interested nonprofits must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) through UWOV’s website at www.uwov.org.
- Letter of Intent application opens: Thursday, September 3, 2026
- LOI deadline: Wednesday, September 23, 2026
- Following submission, LOIs will be reviewed and scored by UWOV’s volunteer-based Community Investment Committee based on alignment with UWOV’s Impact focus areas.
- Selected organizations will be invited by UWOV to advance to the full grant application process, which will open on October 8, 2026.
