Letter of Intent

The Letter of Intent (LOI) is a screening step used to determine whether a proposed program aligns with United Way of the Ohio Valley’s Impact priorities and should be invited to submit a full application. Please be concise and specific. The full application will request additional detail, outcomes, financial information, and supporting documentation.

How will this work help reduce poverty and/or move participants toward greater stability, independence, or economic mobility?
Program Capacity & Measurement
How will you know whether the program is making the intended difference? Briefly identify the primary outcomes or measures you will track.
What experiences, staffing, partnerships, or other capacity will support successful implementation? 
Collaboration & Other Funding
Identify any organizations. agencies, businesses, or community partners involved in this work, and briefly describe their role. If none, explain why collaboration is not necessary. 
Are you seeking or receiving funding from other sources for this project? If yes, identify the source(s), amount(s), and whether funds are committed or pending.

What Happens Next

United Way of the Ohio Valley, Community Investment volunteers (local citizens)  will review LOIs for alignment with Impact priorities, demonstrated community need, potential impact, program capacity, reasonableness of the funding request, and overall fit with the Community Investment strategy.  Each program will be scored to see which programs will be invited to advance to the full Impact Grant application.
